Regulated Healthcare Platform Leadership
CTO of AZZLY, a regulated behavioral-health EHR and RCM platform, for 3 years. The company was acquired by an a16z-backed Series A AI-native company, and the platform was selected as the technical foundation after the transaction.
The Engagement
As CTO of the platform for 3 years, TeqEngine managed 20+ engineers while simultaneously building 8 production systems from scratch, spanning the full stack from Angular frontend to Node.js APIs to PySpark notebooks to cloud infrastructure.
The work ran the full depth of a regulated clinical platform — HL7-based order entry and lab results, embedded telehealth, and a bidirectional patient portal — through to the data warehouse and reporting layer underneath it.
This dual role — managing the engineering organization while delivering the most complex technical work — defined the engagement. We owned architecture decisions, team leadership, and hands-on delivery across 10 repositories.
The Acquisition
In 2025 the company was acquired by an a16z-backed Series A AI-native company. The acquiring team selected the platform we built as a core technical foundation for the next phase of the product.
TeqEngine led the technical due diligence for the acquisition, presenting the technology to the acquiring team. The platform was selected as the core technology foundation after the transaction — a direct validation of the architecture, quality, and scalability of the technology we built.
Engagement Timeline
A multi-year engagement as CTO of a regulated healthcare platform, through to its acquisition.
Systems Built From Scratch
Each system was created, architected, and solely owned by TeqEngine.
Dozens of Spark notebooks and Power BI reports, a full semantic model layer, medallion architecture, and automated CI/CD — built from scratch in roughly 10 weeks
Modern reporting suite with row-level security replacing a legacy reporting system
In-app video consultations embedded directly into the EHR and web application (Zoom-based), built during peak COVID to enable remote care without leaving the clinical workflow
Transformed a provider-only application into a full patient portal — bidirectional patient–provider messaging and document exchange, built from scratch
Clinical Provider Order Entry and lab-results integration over HL7, with bidirectional ordering and result delivery across the platform
Third-party eFax integration replacing manual faxing workflows
Clinical form PDF generation pipeline used by every provider on the platform
Azure AD B2C single sign-on for partner platform integration
The Data Platform Story
TeqEngine built the company's entire data platform on Microsoft Fabric — the full data warehouse and analytics infrastructure — from scratch in roughly 10 weeks.
A full production data platform, designed and built from scratch in roughly 10 weeks.
The Results
Platform Selected as Core Foundation
The platform was selected as the core technology foundation after the acquisition — a direct validation of architecture quality.
