Architected the systems powering a nationally recognized mobile application that reached #1 on the iOS App Store, with both iOS and Android regularly ranking top 3 in recent years, serving millions of users across the United States.
The Challenge
The platform operates at national scale and has handled more than 100 million messages in a single day. The engineering scope included backend systems serving uneven, time-concentrated demand.
Concentrated demand makes capacity, failure handling, and operational visibility part of the product. The work included preparing for peak events and responding to issues as they arose.
What We Built
As lead engineer and architect, Daniel Voigt built the backend, infrastructure and messaging system behind the app. It reached #1 on the iOS App Store and repeatedly ranked in the top three on iOS and Android. The work included:
- Built the messaging infrastructure that delivered 100M messages in a single day
- Designed and built the system architecture and infrastructure for peak-scale events
- Led emergency fixes during peak-traffic incidents
- Scaled backend systems for the platform’s national user base
